Time seems to be going by here. Charles co-worker (sponsor) took us to Brugge on Saturday. Our landlord describes Brugge as an open air museum. I can't think of a better way to describe it. It is an amazingly beautiful city full of tourist and hard to even tell that people actually live there. I imagine they do, but we heard mostly English and French - no Dutch. The buildings looked like the buildings you would see on an old painting of a city. It is an irresistible town. Going there helped Charles and I feel better about our decision to move to Belgium.
I have made two new friends - Emilija from Macedonia and Vicki from Hungary. It is crazy that I am meeting people from all over the world here. I am so glad because our lives will be much richer and our thoughts and ideas broadened by expanding our emotions and feelings and lives to those who are not American.
I think we will be happy here.
Next step is to tackle the French language. So far my pitiful attempts have been disastrous! I will borrow the line from Inglorious Bastards and say that the best way to Carnegie Hall is to practice. But, I'm scared! :)
Hey better practice now when you have only 2 friends...then when u mess up u can honestly say so what who cares nobody knows me here!! And then begin again the next day. A new language always comes faster when emersed in the culture..you are so lucky!
